The Fly Dron company, which is part of Rostec, is working with the government of St. Petersburg to create a pilot zone for “urban air mobility” for testing drones. This was reported by the press service of Rostec.

The infrastructure necessary for drone flights in the airspace of St. Petersburg is planned to be created by the summer of 2022.
The research and production association “Almaz” also participates in the project. The companies plan to create a special digital platform based on existing city services and a ground-based radar system. The system should ensure safe flights of drones in the city and simplify the procedure for their approval. In addition, the project will create a database of verified airspace users.
Recall that at the end of November, the developers from Fly Dron presented at the UMEX 2022 exhibition a kind of analogue of Uber for unmanned aerial vehicles. The new digital platform works on a similar principle – drone owners will be able to offer themselves as a contractor for orders placed in the system. For example, drones can be used for aerial photography, various types of monitoring, urgent delivery of goods, as well as 3D modeling of the terrain and structures.
