The far-right “Alternative for Germany” (AfD) leads a lead in a poll by the Forsa Institute on behalf of RTL/N-TV television networks published today. In particular, AFD is ahead of 26% against 24% of the Christian Union (CDU/CSU) receiving one unit compared to last week. The Christian Union won the February elections with 28.5%, with the far -right AfD ranking second with 20.8%. Support for the Social Democratic Party (SPD), a government partner of the Christian Union (CDU/CSU) in the new coalition, also fell one unit to 14%. The SPD had secured 16.4% of the votes in the elections. The poll suggests that the coalition taking over the reins of power in Germany would not secure a parliamentary majority if elections were held today. The Greens garner 12% and the left (Die Linke) 10%, according to the same poll.
