A register of cryptocurrency miners will be created in Russia

Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy Anton Gorelkin announced the creation of a Russian registry of cryptocurrency miners.

The announcement was made at a meeting of the commission on blockchain technologies, mining and cryptocurrencies at the Regional Public Center for Internet Technologies (ROCIT). Deputies, officials and interested businessmen discussed issues of decriminalization of the cryptocurrency market.

“The situation is such that regulation is inevitable, and the energy shortage in the Irkutsk region has become a definite trigger. Now the finalization of two key bills (on mining and on an experimental legal regime for cryptocurrencies) has again intensified. Quite serious changes await them,” said Anton Gorelkin.

The main innovation will be the creation of a register of virtual asset miners, which will be maintained by the Federal Tax Service (FTS) or the Ministry of Digital Development. The parliamentarian assured that the bill could be adopted as early as the spring session of the State Duma and promised: regulation of the cryptocurrency market will be fair, taking into account the interests and rights of all participants.

Earlier, the director of the financial policy department of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation, Alexey Yakovlev, said that the department is waiting for the adoption of legislation on the regulation of cryptocurrencies this year.
