A school bus driver from Colorado was fired when he was caught on camera hitting a 10-year-old girl who did not want to wear her mask.
Bertram Jaquez appears in a video obtained by the local KKTV station to harass the little one, asking her to upload the mask normally on her face as he had her under her chin.
Then he hits her in the face when she responds “I do not care”.
“In response, I threw a cuff at her,” Jaquez said in a statement to school“She could not hear, she was shouting at me and the other girls,” he wrote of the little girl who complained that the mask made her feel sick.
The driver lost his job and is now facing criminal charges for assaulting and beating the child.
“We believe it is never acceptable to raise a hand against a child,” the county education committee said, calling the incident “disappointing.”
