A sealed copy of VHS videotape sold for $ 75,000 of the classic film “Back To The Future” of 1980.

THE videotape owned by actor Tom Wilson, who played Beef Tannen, was sold at auction with 260 sealed VHS cassettes hosted by Heritage Auctions in Texas.

The video has been described as “almost in excellent condition” since 1986 and the amount paid for it is believed to be the highest ever for a VHS movie.

Wilson commissioned the auction house to sell sealed copies of all three films in the trilogy, with “Back to the Future II” selling for $ 16,250 and “Back to the Future III” selling for $ 13,750. Both were accompanied by signed signatures from the late MCA Executive Vice President and Universal Pictures President Tom Pollock.

Other blockbuster videos from the 1970s and 1980s sold at auction included The Goonies ($ 50,000), Jaws ($ 32,500) and Ghostbusters ($ 23,750).
