A. Skertsos: We got the conclusion of RAE, within the week the decisions

The government now has in its hands the conclusion of the Energy Regulatory Authority for the overpayments of the energy companies, revealed the Minister of State Akis Skertsos, in an interview with the radio station “Sky”. And, after being analyzed, “within a week the government will come back with its conclusions”.

Analytically, “what we are experiencing is not an increase in prices … Mitsotaki or the government, but an increase in prices that has been caused due to the geopolitical crisis, due to the pandemic that caused turmoil in the international economies”, the Minister of State argued .

And, analyzing the government response, which will move in three different periods and levels, first “we will regulate the past, that is, for the excessive burdens from December to May the households will be compensated through an algorithmic formula and a platform “where everyone will be able to easily put their details. With a compensation of up to 600 euros, and not 600 euros as some people go to blur the waters”, clarified A. Skercos with the simultaneous clarification that “now that the economy has proved that it is doing better, we go and compensate even the highest consumptions over 300 kilowatt hours”.

At the same time, based on the directions given by the Energy Regulatory Authority, “we will also see what has happened to the so-called overpayments of energy producers”. As he explained, “we are talking about overpayments because we have to take into account that there have been significant discounts from producers and suppliers, there have also been losses from the fixed tariffs that were formed before the crisis. With full respect for the findings of RA “We will impose an extraordinary fee, essentially a dividend of solidarity of the energy producers. In this difficult situation, they must also put their hand in their pocket”, he stressed, explaining that the cost will be covered by three sources: the state budget, the revenue from the Energy Transition Fund (pollution fund) and the revenue from this emergency fee.

While, as he revealed closing the relevant answer, “RAE’s conclusion has been announced, as far as I know, late on Friday or today, but it has not been analyzed yet, it has not been read. ‘So we have to see what says the conclusion and within a week the government will come back with its conclusions “.

“A faction that works for all Greeks”

The radio interview, however, began with the New Democracy Congress, which was “a lively, democratic, open Congress, highlighting the diversity that currently characterizes the ruling party in the country. It is a broad faction serving patriotic, European politics “deeply popular, social, at the same time reformist and liberal”, he underlined and concluded:

“So, I personally think, we do not need to enter into an anachronistic, in my opinion, confrontation between the Left and the Right. It is a faction and government that works for all Greeks, and it always has in mind that we have done a lot of that. the three years under adverse conditions, but much more remains to be done. ”

According to the Minister of State, “we all see the differences that exist between the European acquis and our country, which, for many years, perhaps decades, did not do what it had to do to coordinate and belong de facto to the European hard So we know we have a ten-year plan and vision, with an eight-year government plan that, in order to take root and bring results, must have at its helm a strong and self-sufficient faction that knows where the country wants to go. “Liberal, more open, more extroverted, more innovative, more productive, with a state that will not bother the citizen,” he said.

“We will use every day until the end of the term”

In addition, “the elections will be won by the production of work, therefore it is a time of government work and reforms, there are specific political goals: We passed a bill that largely transforms the former OAED, now Public Employment Service, with a storm of positive changes in favor of the unemployed We bring very important changes to primary health care, we enable every citizen to have their own personal doctor at no cost – we saw the problems during the pandemic due to the lack of an adequate primary health care network “We are bringing an important bill for the upgrading of public universities, so that the Greek public university can get even closer to the good Greek universities.”

On the occasion of the recent catastrophes at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, he noted that “very close cooperation is needed between the rectory authorities, the Ministry of Civil Protection and the Greek Police so that these issues can now be addressed, dealt with, and eliminated, not us they are slowly being employed on a daily basis “.

Continuing with the reforms of the current period, he concluded with the changes that will be made in the judiciary: “we bring a bill that changes the operation of the courts, the evaluation of judges, the application of disciplinary sanctions”.

And, in conclusion, “a big change is taking place without advertising it, in many areas of the public sector and we will take advantage of it every day until the end of the term”.

The account of the “battle” with the coronavirus

Finally, on the occasion of the report of the World Health Organization on coronavirus and excessive mortality, the Minister of State, after proposing a sober report, stated on the subject: “We followed the instructions of the WHO, which He said that any death related to or from covid should be declared as covid death. Greece has the 12th best performance – and this is happening in a country with the 2nd highest demographic profile – so an aging population that is much more vulnerable to a disease with the characteristics of the coronavirus – and in a country with a health system, which was the “big patient” even before the public health crisis. With very limited resources, with big cuts in the last 10 years, which nevertheless gave a huge battle. We strengthened the health system, we more than doubled the number of beds. In the ICU, at least 18,500 people have been hired, we have implemented policies that have taken us many steps forward. “We implemented a vaccination system that was distinguished throughout Europe and we managed, together with the obligation that we also boldly imposed, to finally have a higher vaccination rate than the European average.”

Therefore, “we should be proud, our country did a good management during the pandemic with very limited resources from other, much more powerful countries.

Citing the example of China, he concluded that this “in an open, liberal country and democracy, such as Greece, can not be implemented. And health and democracy proves to be wrong, because closing a country, an economy, “Considering that this will protect the citizens from the coronavirus, in a new mutation it offers nothing. The Chinese have managed to have their population unprotected, not to have a high degree of natural immunity, without an adequate vaccine…”. On the other hand, Greece, which in the beginning “against an unknown enemy applied very strict restrictive measures and then did what was necessary health, economically and politically, ie a gradual opening of the economy and society, with accordion measures and a strategy of coexistence with “The results certified by the WHO for excessive mortality, confirm the correctness of this strategy”, concluded A. Σκέρτσος.
