Its Russian occupation authorities Ukrainian arrested a teacher who taught Greek, as through a post he made on social media, he opposed the Russian invasion, openly disagreeing with the war declared by Moscow.
It’s about her Elena Tabakhovafrom the Greek village of Urzhuf in the Donetsk region, who was arrested for a “pro-Ukrainian stance” and taken to prison.
According to the reports, Elena Tabakhova was arrested by unknown persons and initially taken to the police station of Mangus (the Greek capital of the region), where the police are based. From there they took her to an unknown direction. “Before the capture of Urzouf, Elena actively participated in the life of the local Greek community. She was loved by her fellow villagers, and at school the children loved her very much,” the president of the Federation of Greek Associations of Ukraine, Alexandra Prochenko, told APE-MPE.
“Elena was in love with our traditions and customs. The Greeks of Ukraine appeal to all human rights organizations, all women’s organizations and Greek society to share the matter and any new information on the fate of the young teacher, who left her child behind. The more organizations share this, the faster it will be possible to save a woman who has a two-year-old child waiting for her at home,” said Ms. Prochenko.
The distinguished writer of Ukraine, of Greek origin, Ivan Abramov, in a written message to APE-MPE, expressed his concern for the fate of the teacher. “I no longer know what a terrible threat a sensitive young woman, a teacher of the Greek language and the mother of a two-year-old daughter, could pose to the Russian invaders, who captured her and threw her into the dungeons of the prison, just because she remained loyal to the motherland of Ukraine. I hope that very soon, the twilight of the prison, the cold of the cell, the musty air of the dungeon will be replaced by the sunlight of freedom, but also the freedom of Urzuf, the smells of the steppe and the sea! Ivan Abramov.
