A fire at the factory of Casetek Group, a Taiwanese electronics manufacturer that supplies technology giant Apple, near Shanghai in China, has killed eight people, including two firefighters.
According to a statement from the Jinshan District government in connection with the incident, the fire at the factory broke out on Thursday at 1:30 pm and continued until Friday morning. The fire was very strong, more than 900 firefighters, 123 fire engines and eight robots were involved in fighting it. Officials are still figuring out how the fire started, but the flames quickly engulfed a large factory.

The Casetek Group is owned by Pegatron, a company known for making cases for Apple’s MacBook line, as well as the iPad. It remains to be seen how much this fire will affect the company’s supply chain.
In an official statement from the Jinshan District government, the fire did not result in significant air or water pollution.
