The experiment started on April 16, 2021 at the State Scientific Center of IBMP RAS. As part of the experiment, a crew of six volunteer testers had to carry out a program simulating an expeditionary flight of a small spacecraft “Orlyonok” to the Moon, including the implementation of operator activities on its surface.

Voloshina O.V. became the participants. (crew commander), Belotskiy M.M. (flight engineer), Salnikova A.V. (crew doctor), Lebedeva S.A., Pashkova D.V. and G.K. Primachenko. (researchers).

Mark Belakovsky, Head of the Department of IBMP RAS, said:

At 11:30 the crew left the lander. The crew commander handed over the report to the project leaders. The research and technical-operational research program has been fully completed, the crew is doing well. ”

The crew had to spend 14 days in a confined space, where sleeping places were located, several workplaces with a large amount of scientific equipment and a bathroom.

The responsible executor of the experimental research, Sergei Ponomarev, explained:

Two weeks is just a lunar mission: fly to the moon, make an exit to the lunar surface and return back. Extravehicular activities are planned using virtual reality tools. A helmet and a unique hanging system will be tested, which will simulate lunar gravity. These funds will be used in the future for experiments in long-term isolation, they are also planned to be used to train planetary activities on the Moon and Mars. ”

The objectives of the experiment were to study the early period of adaptation of a gender-mixed crew to isolation conditions in a small pressurized facility with an artificial habitat.
