A voice for San Marino, Achille Lauro at Eurovision against Italy?

It all seemed a joke, but thanks to the audio of Dario Mangiaracina (a half of The List Representative) posted on Twitter, in which the musician announced to the followers of their Telegram channel his intention to present their song to Eurovision, as representatives of San Marino, the chat about the possibility that a local singer competed for the State of Monte Titano , he was becoming more and more insistent.

Even Tananai, last in Sanremo but first in the hearts of social users for his immoderate self-irony, at one point noticed the opening and tweeted his “what’s going on?”.

From here, however, to think that the scenario could really be realized, the step was long and nobody, or almost, believed it. The fact is that today at noon at the Westin Palace Hotel in Milan the San Marino RTV announcing the finalists, who will compete on February 19 to get the coveted Eurovision spot, dropped a bomb: not one, not two, but a slew of Italian singers will compete in “Una voce per San Marino”. Let’s see who.

First of all, the name that made the most noise is certainly that of Achille Lauro, needless to hide it. The singer, after the not so brilliant result of the last Festival, will try to take home the Eurovision qualification by playing in the playoffs, against Valerio Scanu, Ivana Spagna, Matteo Faustini (former competitor in Sanremo Giovani in 2020) e Blind (third place at X Factor 2020), among others.

And what’s more, Francesco Monte will also have his chance. Yes gentlemen, after having lashed out against the participation of a foreign artist, Ana Mena, at the Festival of Italian song, according to him, he will try to compete for San Marino at Eurovision. We just have to wait for the final on February 19th, when we will know if Mahmood and Blanco will find themselves challenging another Italian singer representing the small Republic.

In all this, therefore, among all the litigants the only one who does not enjoy for now is Tananai, who has remained out of the shortlist of finalists of A voice for San Marinobut our hero does not give up, and rolling up his sleeves asks for musical asylum from another country: Azerbaijan.

Nostalgia for the end of Sanremo this year was heavier than usual, it was enough to take a tour on social media to realize it, and what seemed like a joke, is becoming instead a breath of fresh air that shortens the distance from the very distant final of the Eurovision to be held in May. Nobody wants to get out of the bubble of light-heartedness that does not make you talk about anything but music, making you forget for a whole week everything that is happening around us, and for sure this Sanremino will give social users what they need.

However, the question that someone has asked is “Does it make sense for an Italian singer to do this?”, the answer is never one and only one so I would say «for some yes, for others certainly no».
