AADE: ‘Airbnb’ model on delivery platforms by decision of G. Pitsili

The latest data from the continuous audits that AADE has at its disposal, regarding the tax evasion of catering companies during the delivery of orders, which are made through delivery platforms, particularly troubled the Commander of the Authority, George Pitsilis.

To this end, he invited senior executives from these platforms, such as E-food, Wolt and Box, to inform them about how closer cooperation between the two sides could be made.

In particular, it was agreed to provide data from the platforms to AADE on a quarterly basis. The data includes the total number of transactions carried out by the partner Horeca companies through the platforms.

In this way, crossroads between the actual and the declared transactions, carried out by the restaurants through the platforms, will be made more often and regularly – and not on a case-by-case basis, in order to determine if and when they cut receipts.

Also, the commander of AADE asked the platforms to immediately develop information policies of the companies, with which they cooperate, for their obligation to issue and accompany the orders with the legal documents (receipts and not order vouchers).

The head of AADE, in essence, applies here the successful model of cooperation and provision of data from the sharing platforms (Booking, Airbnb, Vrbo), in order to ensure the maximum possible compliance and to ensure a level playing field.

Following this meeting, the new regulatory framework for the quarterly provision of data by delivery platforms is expected soon.

Finally, it is noted that, in the two years of the pandemic, 2020 and 2021, 34 extensive audits were carried out as a pilot, which resulted in a total of 846,536 non-issuance of tax data, through platforms, corresponding to net concealed material of 5.7 million euros and unpaid VAT. EUR 1.3 million.
