“Abbey Road” the last album recorded by Beatles celebrates 55 years since its launch this Thursday (26). Despite being recorded in 1969, just a year before the band’s end, the album “Let It Be” was the last to be released, along with the film of the same name.
For the album’s 17 songs, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr returned to the studios to create carefully crafted recordings with ambitious musical arrangements. Among the most popular are “Come Together”, “Something” and “Here Comes The Sun”.
According to information on the band’s official website, 12 of the songs that appeared on the finished album were played during rehearsals and filmed sessions for “Let It Be”. Another curiosity is that for the first time on a Beatles album, the cover contained neither the group’s name nor the title of the album, just the photograph, which is considered iconic to this day.
“Abbey Road” entered the UK album chart at number one in October and stayed there for a total of seventeen of its 81 weeks on the chart. In the United States, it spent eleven weeks at number one during its initial 83-week stay on the chart.

At the end of last year, the group’s last single was released. Titled “Now and Then”, the song is an expansion of the albums ‘The Red Album’ (1962–1966) and ‘The Blue Album’ (1967–1970), with stereo mixing.
The song was written and sung by John Lennon, developed and worked on by Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr and completed by Paul and Ringo decades later.
