About 40% of inexperienced investors do not want to hold Bitcoin for a long time

2020 was a breakthrough year in the development of the cryptocurrency industry. Both experienced traders and beginners began to buy bitcoin en masse.

The Cardify platform conducted a survey among investors and found that the interest of inexperienced traders in BTC began to increase just last year. 42% of newbies admitted that they want to keep Bitcoin for about 12 months.

Just over a third of investors have been holding cryptocurrencies for over two years. The newcomers admitted that they decided to buy bitcoin after it became known that such giants as Tesla and Square have invested in this asset.

33% of those surveyed admitted that they see BTC as a hedge against inflationary risks in the short term.

The researchers emphasized:

Despite the fact that inexperienced investors prefer long-term profit as their main motivation, 41.9% of them intend to hold cryptocurrency for less than 12 months.

Experienced traders, on the other hand, try to keep the cryptocurrency as long as possible. Almost 60% of them admitted that they are trying to keep Bitcoin for at least two years.

The share of cryptocurrency in the portfolios of private investors is also growing. The average trader invests about 13% of their capital in digital assets, which is significantly more than in January last year (3.8%).

11.3% of experienced investors fear that Bitcoin will fall below $ 21,000 in 2021. There is also anxiety among inexperienced traders. Almost 21% of respondents are afraid of falling coins below $ 20,000.
