Valve has once again broken its own record for the number of players who are simultaneously on the Steam service. This time we are talking about 26.4 million users.
Over the past year, thanks in part to the pandemic and the rise in popularity of games, Steam has set a new record six times. The previous record of 25.4 million users was recorded in early January 2021. There were 26,401,443 simultaneous users on Steam yesterday.
While Steam already saw significant growth in 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic, time spent playing games skyrocketed as people began to stay at home. The number of customers buying and playing has also dramatically increased. Hopefully it brought some joy to make up for the 2020 madness.

Steam also hit 120 million monthly active users last month. In this regard, Steam is ahead of Xbox Live and PlayStation Network, which each have approximately 100 million active gamers.
