This Wednesday (10), the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences revealed the date of the 97th Academy Awards Ceremony which takes place next year.
According to a post on its social networks, the awards announced that the next edition will take place on March 2, 2025 , on a Sunday, as usual. Additionally, the Academy mentioned when the award nominees will be announced: January 17, 2025 on a Friday.
It is worth remembering that in February this year, the Academy had already announced a new category for films released from 2025 onwards, which in turn, will be awarded in 2026. Feature films released this year in question will be able to compete for the statuette of Best Cast in the 98th edition.
The last time the organization added a new award was in 2001, when they started awarding Best Animated Film.
The 96th ceremony took place exactly one month ago, in Los Angeles, in the United States and declared “Oppenheimer” as the big winner of the night. Nominated in 13 categories, the film took home seven statuettes — including Best Film, Best Actor and Best Director.
Soon after, “Pobres Criaturas” stood out with four awards : Best Actress, Best Costume Design, Best Production Design and, finally, Best Hair and Makeup.
