A collision between a minibus and a truck, on Sunday night (7), left 24 people dead on the BR-324, near the municipality of Gavião (BA), according to the Anjos Jacuípenses Volunteer Brigade, which worked in the rescue. . There are injuries in the incident.
According to the brigade members, the bus left Guarajuba, a tourist destination in Bahia, towards the city of Jacobina, also in Bahia, a journey of around 360 kilometers.
Among the fatal victims, there were seven men and 17 women, one of whom was pregnant. The injured were taken to hospitals in the region, but some of them, according to authorities, have already been transferred to units in Feira de Santana and Salvador.
The Federal Highway Police of Bahia (PRF-BA) reported that the vehicles collided head-on. Of the 24 fatal victims, 23 died at the scene of the crash and one of them was taken to a hospital in the region, but succumbed to her injuries.
PRF-BA also informs that the highway remains completely closed in the section where the accident occurred.
Firefighters, SAMU and Military Police also took part in the incident.
The causes of the accident are being investigated.
