An accident between a truck and a school van left eight people injured and two dead this Thursday morning (7), in São João del Rei, Minas Gerais.
The van involved in the incident was taking students from the technical course at the Federal Institute in São João Del Rei to class.
According to the Fire Department, the truck driver lost control on the way down the mountain and hit the van, the drivers of both vehicles were trapped in the wreckage and were rescued by the agents.
The truck driver was taken to a health unit in the region alive and the driver of the school van died at the scene.
The second victim was a 16-year-old student who also died at the scene of the accident.
Another seven students were rescued with injuries and taken to health facilities in the region.
In a statement, the educational institution regretted what happened and reported that it offered support to all victims involved in the accident.
The Civil Police of Minas Gerais is investigating the causes of the accident.
