A collision between a truck and a trailer completely blocked the eastbound lane of the Ayrton Senna highway in the early hours of this Wednesday (17).
The accident occurred at 3:48 a.m. at km 20, in the Guarulhos region, in Greater São Paulo. All lanes and the shoulder were closed.
The São Paulo State Transportation Agency (Artesp) reported that a semi-trailer was unable to brake and crashed into the back of a truck. One person suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital.
The agency also stated that the collision caused a chemical leak at the site. Therefore, teams from Ecopistas, the Fire Department, the Military Highway Police, SAMU and the Environmental Company of the State of São Paulo were called and are responding to the incident.
The Fire Department was called at 5:45 am due to a fire hazard and sent three vehicles to provide in-person assistance.
According to Artesp, at around 7 am, eastbound traffic was congested between km 15 and km 20 of Ayrton Senna.
