Accident during SP subway construction opens crater in condominium in the north zone

A crater was opened this Monday morning (20) in a condominium in the Freguesia do Ó neighborhood, in the north of São Paulo. The location is on one of the construction sites for the future subway line 6-orange.

The incident took place on Avenida Ministro Petrônio Portela, which had a section partially closed after the formation of the crater. According to the concessionaire Linha Uni, which manages the works, the site was already isolated as a preventive measure.

“The region was already monitored due to this atypical condition of the soil and its interface with the tunnel excavations with the Norte tunneling machine”, added the concessionaire, in a note.

The technical teams from the project and the company are at the site and stated that there is no sign of risk to the surrounding buildings.

The Concessions and Permissions Monitoring Committee (CMCP), of the Secretariat for Investment Partnerships (SPI), also spoke out and informed that it is constantly monitoring the implementation of Line 6 and controlling damage to third parties, with recovery and compensation, if it's necessary. The commission claimed that it will continue to monitor the progress of actions carried out at the site.

No casualties were reported.
