The Araguari Emergency Care Unit (UPA), where some of the injuries of the bus accident that has victimized 11 people, on Tuesday (8), is in a state of overcrowding, according to information from the city.
A bus with 54 people on board overturned on the MG-223 state highway around 3:40 am in Araguari, in the interior of Minas Gerais, in which 11 people died in the accident.
The Municipal Health Department stated that it accompanies the consequences of the accident, but requested that the population does not move to the UPA in question.
“Given this, the city asks the population not to move to the UPA, except in cases of urgent and emergency, and that it awaits the opening of the nearest health unit, in order to ensure adequate care for the injured in the accident,” the folder said in a statement.
The municipal administration expressed deep grief and solidarity to family and friends of fatalities.
Bus left from Goiás
The bus belongs to Viação Real Expresso and left with 49 passengers from Anápolis, in Goiás, at 8:30 pm on Monday (7), and was destined for the city of Ribeirão Preto, in the interior of São Paulo.
According to Viação, 11 fatalities and 18 injured were confirmed to the hospital of the Federal University of Uberlândia (HC-UFU) and to the Araguari UPA to receive proper care.
Another 18 people had light injuries or were not injured and dispensed with medical attention. The company regretted what happened.
Real Expresso reported that the driver of the vehicle is well and remains in the hospital. In all, according to the company, 22 people are under care in health facilities:
- 13 at the Araguari Emergency Care Unit
- 4 at the University Hospital of Uberlândia
- 4 at the University Hospital of Araguari
- 1 at Santa Casa
