An accident involving a police car and a truck left at least seven people injured this Monday afternoon (17), in downtown Rio de Janeiro. A security camera captured the moment of the crash. (see video above) .
The vehicle was traveling at high speed on the Light Rail Vehicle (VLT) rails when it collided with the truck at the intersection of Avenida Rio Branco — one of the busiest in the city center — with Almirante Barroso.
Then the truck overturned and hit another vehicle. The victims, including two police officers, were taken to area hospitals.
A video recorded afterwards shows several people trying to lift the car, as a boy ended up under it.
The rescued man is 26 years old, and was taken to Souza Aguiar Hospital. He underwent surgery and has no discharge forecast.
In a note, the Military Police confirmed the injuries of the agents and pointed out that they opened a procedure to determine the causes of the accident.
