Go to Instagram and search for @accidentallywesanderson.

The profile was opened just over three years ago by the American Wally Koval, marketing expert, and his wife Amanda and, apparently, collects a series of photographs of landscapes and interiors.

Now shake well: what do you notice?

The photos, geolocated in various places around the world, are very different from each other and apparently connected by nothing but flavor “casually wesandersoniano“That distinguishes them. We are probably indicating a profile that, if you are passionate about travel or photography, you already know or have already seen reposted by others of yours. No wonder: in no time @accidentallyweanderson has exceeded one million and three hundred thousand followers.

People who not only put hearts and comments but who, from any latitude, send your contribution in the form of photos. They are shots of buildings, landscapes, houses, piers, cars, bell towers, theaters, bars with a bizarre flavor. Not just any bizarre, but that kind of atmosphere found in the films of the great Texan director: something that recalls in pastel tones Grand Budapest Hotel and film in the atmosphere of travel The Darjeeling Limited.

These are images that, from Alaska to Taiwan, have something of a fairy tale, built as they are around careful geometries and dotted with colors (one above all: the rosa). If you frequent (and we hope to be able to return soon) the Prada Foundation in Milan, think of the Bar Luce which was designed by Anderson (if you have never been there, here it is).

The @accidentallyweanderson profile lives like this thanks to those who follow it (by the way: if you are a paper lover, Koval has recently published a volume that collects the best shots, with his first place on the cover. They are 369 pages of pure pleasure , a kind of finely bound atlas by the publisher Voracious). On Instagram he draws every day an entirely Wesandersonian geography thanks to the contributions of the Texan director’s fans who yearn for his imaginative world made of retro taste and a touch of glam, pastel colors and studied geometries, timeless atmospheres but never “already seen”.

But he, the person concerned, what does he say?

Officially he did not make any statements on the Instagram page or comments, but he agreed to write the preface to the book in which we read: “The photographs in this book were taken by people I have never met, they portray places and things that I do not have, almost without exception, never seen. But I have to say it: I’m going to do it. “
Damn, Wes Anderson, how can you not love you?
