Experts of the analytical company IDC have summed up the results of the second quarter of 2021 in the market of equipment for wireless local area networks (WLAN). In general, this market grew by 4.6% on an annualized basis, but the picture differs dramatically by segment.
The corporate segment saw an increase of 22.4%, while sales in the consumer segment declined by 5.7%. In absolute terms, the corporate segment reached $ 1.7 billion, while the consumer segment decreased to $ 2.3 billion.
Growth in the corporate segment is driven mainly by the rapid adoption of Wi-Fi 6 or 802.11ax compliant equipment. Wi-Fi 6 hotspots accounted for 56.7% of revenue in the managed hotspot category. In quantitative terms, they accounted for 45.0% of supplies.

Cisco remains the leader among suppliers of corporate WLAN equipment, although over the year its share decreased from 44.3% to 38.4%. In second place is HPE-Aruba. The share of this manufacturer decreased over the year from 12.8% to 12.2%. The third place is occupied by Ubiquiti, which was able to increase its market presence from 7.1% to 8.7%. Next comes Huawei. Its share increased from 6.1% to 6.6%. And CommScope closes the top five. The share of this company decreased over the year from 4.9% to 4.8%.
