Experts of the analytical company IDC summed up the results of the first quarter of 2021 in the market of equipment for wireless networks (WLAN). According to their calculations, in the corporate segment of the specified market, sales growth in annual terms was 24.6%, in the consumer segment – 11.7%. The market as a whole grew by 16.7% compared to the first quarter of 2020.
Analysts point out that the growth engine in the corporate segment continues to be the introduction of the Wi-Fi 6 or 802.11ax standard. Last quarter, the share of access points that meet this standard exceeded half of all shipments for the first time, reaching 50.5%. Nearly all of the other enterprise APs shipped during the quarter were Wi-Fi 5 or 802.11ac compliant.
For comparison: in the consumer segment, the share of Wi-Fi 6 access points was 20.3%, the share of Wi-Fi 5 access points was 66.2%.
The undisputed leader of the corporate WLAN market is Cisco, which was able to increase its share from 38.9% to 44.4% over the year. The second place is occupied by HPE-Aruba with 14.8% of the market, the third – by Ubiquiti with 9.1%.
