Specialists of the analytical company IDC summed up the results of the fourth quarter of 2021 and the whole year as a whole in the monitor market. In the fourth quarter, shipments decreased by 5.2% compared to the same quarter in 2020, according to IDC, but shipments increased by 5.0% for the year as a whole. In total, 143.6 million units were shipped during the year, which is the best result since 2012, when sales amounted to 150.3 million units. Analysts point out that the modest year-on-year growth is due to market weakness in the second half of the year, while growth was 19.4% in the first half.

In the fourth quarter of 2021, 37.3 million monitors were shipped. This is 5.2% less compared to the same period in 2020. At the end of the quarter, the top five suppliers included Dell, Lenovo, HP, TPV and Samsung. Their shares are 22.1%, 13.0%, 10.7%, 10.5% and 8.8% respectively.
The composition of the top five at the end of the year is the same, but the places are distributed differently. The market leader is Dell, whose share increased from 19.3% to 21.1% over the year. In second place is Lenovo. The share of the Chinese manufacturer increased from 10.5% to 11.9%. The third place is occupied by TPV, whose share decreased from 14.2% to 11.7%. The share of HP, which occupies the fourth place, decreased from 13.5% to 10.5%. The top five is closed by Samsung. It occupies 8.6% of the market. In 2020, the South Korean giant owned 9.4% of the market.
