The Paraná Court of Justice (TJ-PR) ordered that those accused of involvement in the attack with an acidic substance against Isabelly Aparecida Ferreira Moro on May 22, 2024, will be tried by the Jury Court.
The pronunciation decision was published by the Jacarezinho Criminal Court and forwards the process for popular judgment, not yet scheduled.
The victim’s ex-boyfriend, Marlon Ferreira Lemes, and his current companion, Débora Aparecida Custódio Ferreira will be taken to the jury. Marlon is detained at the State Penitentiary of Londrina and Debora, in the Public Prison of Santo Antônio da Platina.
Marlon’s defense, represented by lawyer Leonardo Pimenta de Freitas Aguiar, clarified that the sentence of pronunciation does not represent a definitive judgment on the accused’s fault, but only the recognition of sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial.
“Since the beginning of the process, the defense has argued that there was no ‘dominion of the fact’ by Marlon, especially since he was in custody at the time of the facts,” said the lawyer.
The defense maintains the thesis that conduct must be disqualified for serious bodily injury, with removal from qualifiers, and trusts that the jury plenary will be the adequate space to clarify the absence of murderous intention.
Lawyer Jean Campos, who acts in Debora Custódio, criticized the court decision, classifying the accusation of attempted femicide as disproportionate and without support in the evidence.
“The accusation, as it was built, borders on the absurdity and proves to be an instrument of self -promotion of those who accuse,” he said. The defense said it will appeal, seeking the annulment of the decision to pronounce and the removal of the qualifiers attributed to the defendant.

The suspicion threw an acidic substance toward the young woman’s face, who ran and throwing himself into the ground. She even asked for help from people who passed a moment after the attack.
