The Ceará Public Defender’s Office proved the innocence of a 27 -year -old man who was accused of participating in a robbery of a jewelry store in Tianguá, in the interior of the state.
Using a Google digital tool, the defense team confirmed that on the day of the crime, the young man was in Bahia, more than 1,600 kilometers away. The case, which took place in 2023, had the innocence of the accused recognized last Thursday (30).
In a statement, the Public Defender’s Office explained that the accused’s family sought the public service after being informed about an open pre -trial warrant against the young man. He had been identified as one of the suspects of the robbery, but from the beginning he claimed that he was not in the city of Tianguá on the day of the crime. The family presented screenshots that indicated that he was in Luiz Eduardo Magalhães, Bahia, during the period when the theft occurred.

The technical report revealed that the young man was in a commercial establishment in Bahia on ten occasions, including on August 5 and 8, 2023, dates that coincide with the crime. In addition, photos posted on his social networks during the period confirmed their presence in the city. The analysis proved that the accused was 1,600 km from the scene of the robbery, invalidating any possibility of his participation in the crime.
The report also indicated that the young man remained in Bahia until August 14, when he started a bus trip to Sobral, Ceará, arriving at the city on August 15. With the evidence, public defender Luis Carlos Garcia Júnior petized the court to revoked the arrest warrant and the accusation against the young man was withdrawn. The judge accepted the request, and the man was acquitted last week.
To the press, the coordinator of the Defensive Research Center, Patrícia Sá Leitão, stressed the importance of specialized technical work, noting that, since 2023, expert support has been fundamental to ensure law enforcement in complex cases.
