The popular weather service AccuWeather has launched its own Chainlink network node to provide access to weather data around the world through smart contracts.
According to AccuWeather, through a dedicated software interface, developers will be able to access data on temperature, humidity, pressure, wind speed and weather anomalies around the world.
The smart contract can be used to issue non-fungible tokens (NFT) that change with the weather, as well as to automatically adjust supply chain parameters based on weather and create markets for weather predictions or natural disasters.
“As one of the first weather services to join Chainlink, we are thrilled to bring our data to this emerging blockchain market,” said AccuWeather Global Product Director Kurt Fulepp.
Recall that the Chainlink project is creating a network of decentralized oracles – trusted data providers. The Chainlink integration was recently announced by the developers of the Avalanche blockchain.
