The result is not trivial, on all fronts: only thanks to a change in the law that prevented the production of 100% recycled plastic bottles in Italy, obtained thanks to the support of the Senator Andrea Ferrazzi, today it is possible to produce and use a bottle totally in Rpet, while only thanks to the commitment of Acqua San Benedetto to create a line, the Ecogreen line, with 100% of the emissions offset, you can have a bottle with zero impact on the environment.
This is just one of the steps that the company has taken in recent years in the field of sustainability, a commitment that began in 2009 with a voluntary agreement with the Ministry of the Environment to detect and evaluate carbon dioxide emissions, and the choice to implement improvement processes to reduce CO2 emissions.
A path that has led to an energy efficiency of the machines, to the use of a trigeneration and photovoltaic system, to the choice of using 5 different water sources in the peninsula to reduce transport distances, using a “lightweighting bottle», lighter bottle (which therefore uses less plastic), del tappo Twist&Drink (i.e. tied to the bottle so that it does not disperse in the environment) e of Rpet, regenerated pet plastic on the whole Ecogreen line. The result? In the two-year period 2019-2020, the San Benedetto Group reduced emissions by 37,900 tons of CO2 eq.
