Activists demonstrated in Venice against Jeff Bezos

At least 500 protesters protested again today in Venice for the marriage of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and journalist Lorin Sanchez, a day after the wedding ceremony that prompted reactions to the city of Doge. “Bezos, away from the lagoon,” the protesters shouted as they marched downtown. Some were holding placards with slogans such as “eat the rich” and “rejected”, and others who accused the Mayor of Venice of corruption. The mobilization was despite the heatwave in the city, at the initiative of the collective “there is no place for Bezos” which opposes the city’s economic exploitation by the couple and complaining about the environmental consequences.
