Actor Rafael Cardoso's communications office published a note on the artist's social media about last weekend's events.
Cardoso is being investigated in a case of aggression against a 64-year-old man, who is the manager of a bar in Barra da Tijuca. The case happened last Monday (26), around 11pm.
He will have to give a statement this Tuesday (5).
According to the note, the actor “is very sorry about the latest events and apologizes.” The publication also informs that he was under the influence of medication, but that “this does not justify the error”, and “he will respond to the consequences in all applicable areas”.
Finally, the statement says that Rafael will be away from social networks and the media for a while and that “from this moment on, he will withdraw to treat his health.”

Remember the case
Images from the internal circuit of a bar in Barra da Tijuca, in the west zone of Rio de Janeiro, show the moment in which actor Rafael Cardoso attacks the establishment's manager. It was around 11pm last Monday (26) when everything happened.
In the video, it is possible to see Rafael, who appears in a black shirt, arguing with local employees in front of the bar. At one point, the manager, who was wearing green clothes, arrives, speaks to the actor and walks away.
Rafael goes after the manager. Moments later, the two return. The employee runs into the establishment and bumps into tables. The actor comes right after him.
The employee runs out of the bar again and falls to the floor. Rafael starts attacking the man, even though he is down. Other people arrive to break up the fight and the manager gets up.
Moments later, the actor attacks the man again. The two run and almost cross the lanes of Avenida Lúcio Costa, on the edge of Barra. After a few minutes of confusion, the actor leaves. The bar team is located at the door of the establishment.
According to a report from employees to the police, on the day of the attack, the actor arrived in a car at high speed and braking heavily in front of the establishment, which would have frightened customers. In addition to Rafael, two other men, who left before the confusion, were in the vehicle.
The police also claim that he arrived at the place aggressive and very upset, and asked to call the bar manager. The manager would have approached to greet the artist and, even without any previous contact, Rafael would have threatened the man with death.
The manager said that's why he left. Afterwards, the actor would have gone after him and punched him in the back of the head. That's how the confusion started.
The manager, who is 64 years old, told the police that he underwent a recent surgical procedure to correct an inguinal hernia, and was therefore unable to defend himself from the attacks.
According to delegate Neilson Nogueira, the case was registered as bodily injury and threat at the Barra da Tijuca police station (16th DP). Rafael is expected to give a statement late this Tuesday morning (5).
