The actor Gabriel Stauffer vented to his departure from the evangelical church after his father, Sergio Wesley, had taken on homosexual for the family.
“How am I going to believe in a God who prepared a place for my father and a lot of people being whipped by eternity?” He said during a participation in the spoken portrait podcast.
In the post in which Gabriel released the video and talked more about this choice, Sergio praised his son in the comments. “I love you every day more and my pride of you and my respect for you only increase! May the Father, loving, liberating, caregiver and supportive God to bless your life! I love you!” Wrote the actor’s father.
Gabriel said he was educated within the Evangelical Church and lived in that medium until his 20 years, where he had his first contacts with art and theater. However, a few years ago, he has wondered about the teachings he heard.
“I started to wonder about everything; as believers lived these days, their choices, their way of acting, thinking… and I realized myself increasingly dissonant. What believed to be right, everyone believed the opposite, and vice versa. I didn’t see me there anymore,” he said in an Instagram post. “My father reveals to be gay was just one of these reasons.”
“I am immensely grateful that he managed to tell us, after so long, because he is closer to who he is, his desires. It is thrilled. It’s beautiful!”, Added the actor.
According to Gabriel, he continues to relate to God, but his way: “I think spirituality is different from religion and is an individual search. I keep praying, asking, vibrating, relating a God, because I need it (must be the sun in the house 12). But a God who is different from the one I learned within the church.”
