The actress Cristina Pereira 74, revealed that was a victim of rape in childhood . The statement was made during a debate at the Gramado Film Festival this Sunday (11).
“This is the first time I have spoken about this publicly. This happened to me . It’s happening to a lot of girls now,” she said. “I was a 12-year-old girl, going through puberty, I hadn’t even gotten my period. I didn’t know anything about sex, I didn’t know what that man had done to me. It’s a horrible thing.”
She was participating in a debate about the film “The Business Women’s Club”, directed by Anna Muylaert and which has a scene of sexual violence.
“When the [personagem] Candinho cry, it’s me who’s crying, it’s you who’s crying and there are many 12-year-old girls like that little girl, who was going to school, in uniform”, the actress concluded with her voice choked with tears.
In a video of the moment circulating on social media, you can see Muylaert hugging the artist and Katiuscia Canoro (who also acts in the film) getting emotional in the background when hearing the story.
The feature film “The Business Women’s Club” premiered at the festival this Sunday. The plot follows Jongo, a renowned photographer, and Candinho, a young journalist, who arrive at a decadent country club run by women from São Paulo’s high society.
Also in the cast are actors Rafael Vitti, Luis Miranda, Irene Ravache, Louise Cardoso, Grace Gianoukas, Polly Marinho, Helena Albergaria, Shirley Cruz, Itala Nandi, Maria Bopp, Verônica Debom, André Abujamra, Fernando Billi, Tales Ordakji, Nani de Oliveira and Clodd Dias.
