Actress Françoise Forton (64) died this Sunday (16) in Rio de Janeiro. The artist, who was undergoing cancer treatment, leaves her husband, Eduardo Barata, and their son, Guilherme Fourton Viotti.
Daughter of a French father and Brazilian mother, the actress was born in Rio de Janeiro, on July 8, 1957. She debuted on TV as a teenager, in the soap opera “A Última Valsa”, in 1969.
In more than 50 years of career, Françoise has made more than 40 soap operas and participated in several TV and film productions. Among the soap operas, the actress participated in hits such as “Tieta” (1989), “Por Amor” (1997), “O Clone” (2001) and “Amor à Vida” (2013), on TV Globo.
In “Por Amor”, Françoise played the perky Meg, a socialite who always had a pug on her lap.
The artist also participated in Record soap operas, including characters from “Cidadão Brasileiro” (2006), “Luz do Sol” (2007) and “Promessas de Amor” (2009).
Friends, artists and TV professionals paid tribute on social media. Author Walcyr Carrasco wrote: “Unfortunately we lost our dear Françoise Forton, a wonderful actress, who radiated energy wherever she went. My condolences to family and friends.”
