Ad. Georgiadis: Elliniko is proceeding normally and when completed it will be a pole of attraction even for those who fought it

The most intelligent and modern city is created from the beginning, with the integration of all new technologies, with all the positive implications for the region and the country, said the Minister of Development and Investment, Adonis, for the project of urban regeneration of Elliniko. Georgiadis speaking at OT Forum 2 on “Smart Cities as a Lever for Growth”.

The Minister stressed the importance of the investment, in general, for our country, stating that it is proceeding normally and when completed will be a pole of attraction, even for those who fought it and were opposed to it.

He gave, as a typical example, the investment of Costa Navarino in Kalamata which when it was announced received reactions, resulting in years of delay, but when it was completed and its decisive positive effect became apparent, throughout the Peloponnese is now supported by society as a whole.

Regarding the NSRF, the minister noted: “Greece is the first country in the EU to receive approval for the new NSRF, and the next country is six months behind us.”

He also reiterated that Greece will be the first country to disburse money in 2022 and that in this way there will be no funding gap. Thus the country will have three Community sources of funding, the current NSRF, the new NSRF where the first programs are expected to be approved in September and the first disbursements and the Recovery Fund to be made in November.

According to Mr. Georgiadis, about one third of the funds of the new NSRF will be channeled to the digital transformation and the second largest program is the “smart cities” that will turn the cities we live in IoT, ie the Internet of Things, where everything will be interconnected.

As an example, he mentioned the garbage bins, where through the IoT the municipalities will be able to make better planning in the garbage collection and the routes of the garbage trucks, saving fuel, reducing up to 50% the environmental burden, but also the suffering of the residents. cities. A total of 7-8 billion euros will be allocated for the digital transformation of the country, within a depth of 6 + 3 years, which are respectively the years of duration and extension of the program.
