“New roads are being opened for dynamic growth and prosperity,” said Minister of Development and Investment Adonis Georgiadis on Greece’s exit from the Enhanced Supervision regime.
Specifically, the minister stated the following:
“The end of the memoranda for Greece and our exit from the regime of enhanced supervision are an important national success that reflects on all Greeks.
After 12 years of continuous supervision by the Institutions and the European Institutions, a difficult period for the Greek economy is coming to an end and new roads are being opened for dynamic growth and prosperity.
Our country, despite the repeated crises and the war in Ukraine, not only shows remarkable resilience in the economy but fully fulfills its commitments by implementing a huge reform project in all sectors of the economy aimed at attracting investment, a sector in which it is collapsing. one historical record after another, the improvement of the business environment and in general the achievement of a sustainable growth rate.
Regarding the work of the Ministry of Development and Investment, I feel proud as we have achieved and completed all the commitments made by the Institutions in the context of post-memorandum surveillance.
We have engaged in a huge struggle fulfilling the goals of our reform project in cooperation with the Presidency of the Government, the General Secretariat for Coordination and all the Ministries involved.
We managed and simplified in just one year the licensing for over 20 new economic activities. To date, we have simplified 350 economic activity codes, which correspond to most of the country’s economic base and concern more than 345,000 companies.
In particular, we passed four laws in total 4711/2020, 4796/2021 and 4811/2021, 4849/2021 to simplify the framework for conducting economic activities.
We have introduced more than 20 surveillance tools, thus enhancing the protection of the public interest.
We have proceeded and are constantly implementing the digitization of all licensing and control systems of economic activities.
We have implemented structural changes in the field of Public Procurement both in terms of digitization and simplification of procedures.
In this national effort, I would like to congratulate and thank all our collaborators and especially the Deputy Minister, Nikos Papathanasis and the General Secretaries who worked for these reforms, at the General Secretariat of Industry, Pelopidas Kalliris, Giannis Kyriakou and Themida Eftychidou and at the General Secretariat of Commerce & Consumer Protection Panagiotis Stampoulidis and Sotiris Anagnostopoulos and of course all the officials of the Ministry of Development and Investment.
Greece from black sheep in the EU is becoming an example to be imitated.
This success is collective. It’s a success for all of us. ”
