“This week, fines will be announced at gas stations for scandal,” Minister of Development and Investment Adonis Georgiadis said in an interview with SKAI today, adding that several violations have been found.
He pointed out that whoever tries to make more money, “we will take the profit for two”.
He also said that the controls, from the refinery to the gas station, will be intensified in terms of profit margin.
Mr. Georgiadis explained that the higher the international price and the lower the euro, the higher the fuel price.
He stressed that Greece traditionally has high fuel taxes and during the Tsipras government they increased more, while he admitted that Greece has high prices, however it is not the most expensive in the Eurozone but is in 4th-5th place.
Finally, he stated that the government chose not to proceed with a horizontal reduction but with a subsidy based on income criteria.
