Ad. Georgiadis: The operation of a hydrogen production plant in Western Macedonia is of huge national importance

The Minister of Development and Investment, Adonis Georgiadis, characterized the creation of a hydrogen production plant in Western Macedonia as a project of enormous national strategic importance.

“The implementation of the plan will be done with the participation of the largest energy groups in the country, the Greek State and with the financing of the European Fund”, Mr. Georgiadis pointed out, during the debate in the plenary of the parliament, the bill for de-ligation and the fair development transition.

Responding to the accusations of the official opposition that “our country was the first to rush, without any comprehensive plan, to proceed with the de-ligation leading the region to complete desertification and poverty”, Mr. Georgiadis attributed to it hypocrisy and adventure.

“You are pretending to be the ecologists, the protectors of the environment when you are yourself and your government, by decision of the Deputy Minister of Environment, G. Stathakis, you had twice extended the operation of the Karyas substation”, Mr. Georgiadis countered.

He also reacted strongly to the accusations that the increase in the price of electricity is due to the energy transition, calling the accusation “sky-high nonsense of the forces of populism on the internet”, adding that “all lignite plants are working at full capacity. and as much lignite as they have to give, they give it, covering all the energy needs of the country “.
