O People's Choice Awards 2024 paid homage, this Sunday (18), to the actor Adam Sandler and the singer Lenny Kravitz .
Adam Sandler received the award for Icon of the Year by the hands of Jennifer Aniston which paid homage to the actor's iconic comedy roles as well as his contributions to the film industry as a writer and producer.
“Adam Sandler has been an industry staple for decades, entertaining us since he started on Saturday Night Live more than 30 years ago,” Jen Neal, executive vice president of shows and specials at NBCUniversal Entertainment, said in a press release. “From Billy Madison to Mr. Deeds, his unforgettable characters have stood the test of time and left their mark on audiences for generations. We are thrilled to honor him with this year’s Icon Award.”
Lenny Kravitz, on the other hand, was honored with the Music Icon award. Before accepting the award, the musician took to the awards stage to play a medley of the songs “Fly Away”, “It Ain't Over 'til It's Over”, “Are You Gonna Go My Way” and his most recent single “TK421”.
Jen Neal shared a statement to the press about her decision to recognize Lenny Kravitz: “Whether he's writing and performing his own hits or working behind the scenes writing for other big names in the industry, Lenny's musical gift is truly unparalleled. We are thrilled to honor him as this year’s musical icon and look forward to seeing what he brings to the stage.”
