Additional sanctions against Russia were announced by the Japanese Prime Minister

Japan is preparing to take additional sanctions against Russia, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said on Thursday after meeting with leaders of the other G7 countries in Brussels.

In particular, Kishida announced the passage of a law to remove the status of a favorable state for Russia, but also to take measures that will prevent the Kremlin from circumventing economic sanctions using digital assets, such as cryptocurrencies.

“We had a fruitful meeting in which we, the G7 members, reaffirmed our firm determination to play a leading role in protecting the world order,” Kishida told reporters.

“For my part, I explained the additional sanctions imposed by Japan (against Russia) and the additional $ 100 million in humanitarian aid to Ukraine and neighboring countries.”
