The government of Russia’s Kursk Region announced today that it will introduce additional security measures in the city of Kurchatov and the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant from August 29. Entry to the city of Kurchatov, where the station is located, will be temporarily restricted, Kursk Oblast Acting Governor Alexei Smirnov said in a post on the Telegram app. Smirnov linked this decision to the fact that “the armed forces of Ukraine do not stop their attempts to enter the city” and the status of the “anti-terrorist operation”, which is in force in the Kursk region. From his post it is inferred that there will be roadblocks at the entrance to the city. Residents of the city of Kurchatov who live in it will pass freely.
