Adele’s new album breaks record sales in the US and the UK

The singer Adele made another hit chart return with records. Their latest album, “30”, claimed the title of fastest selling album in 2021 in the USA and in the UK.

Released on November 19, the British singer’s fourth album also became the most successful in 2021 in the United States, just three days after release, according to MRC data reported by Billboard.

Selling over 660,000 units – which includes streaming audio and video and individual track sales – “30” has already triumphed over the other major releases of 2021.

No United Kingdom, Adele debuted at number one on the album chart, with first week sales reaching 261,000 according to the Official Charts website, which claimed it was the highest first week for an album since “Divide” (÷) by Ed Sheeran in 2017.

The album’s lead single, “Easy on Me,” also went on to earn a sixth straight week at number one on the UK singles chart, after breaking the record for broadcasts in a single week after its release.

The Official Charts said Adele was the only woman with three or more albums to reach number one with all of her records – a title she has now consolidated with “30”, which marks her fourth number one.

However, production has yet to reach the levels of the singer’s third album, “25”, which became the best-selling album of all time in the US and UK in 2015 – selling 800,000 copies in the UK and 3, 3 million in the US.

Although this week’s album chart has yet to be released in the US, Adele is almost guaranteed to claim her third consecutive number one album, and “Easy on Me” previously spent four weeks at number one on the Hot 100 singles chart. Billboard.

The sales figures reflect Adele’s love for conventional methods of listening to music. Of the total, 560,000 units sold in the US are physical albums, while 67% of its sales in the UK were physical sales.

The singer has shunned streaming in the past, though she now appears to have embraced it at the risk of dampening physical sales — even causing Spotify remove the “random order” button as a default option for albums on the platform.

The album “30” was widely critically acclaimed, and Adele told American Vogue magazine in October that it was her way of explaining her divorce to her son and was very important to her. She stated that she “did not give up on this one”.
