An administrative fine of 150,000 euros was imposed by the General Secretariat of Trade and Consumer Protection of the Ministry of Development and Investments on EUROBANK, because in a housing loan contract it was found that the bank implemented a general transaction term that provided for the calculation of interest based on a year of 360 days instead of 365 days, a term expressly prohibited by Ministerial Decision Z1-798/2008 which was issued following the 430/2005 decision of the Supreme Court as well as by European Union law.
These were made known by an announcement from the Ministry of Development and Investments, while it is recalled that the consumer public can be informed or submit complaints about phenomena of violation of consumer protection legislation at the Consumer Line 1520 and at the electronic address [email protected] that operate to the general secretariat of Trade and Consumer Protection.
