The Ministry of Defense of Russia announced today that Admiral Alexander Moiseyev is taking over as the new head of the Navy. In a teleconference with the top commanders of the Russian armed forces, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu also said that Vice Admiral Konstantin Kambatsov was appointed commander of the Northern Fleet and Vice Admiral Sergei Pinchuk commander of the Black Sea Fleet. By presidential decree, Moiseyev replaces Nikolai Evmenov, who had been the head of the Navy since May 2019. Moiseyev had already appeared in his new capacity in mid-March, at a ceremony held in the port of Krostand. Pinchuk was born in 1971 in Sevastopol, Crimea, according to his biography posted on the ministry's website.
