Four teenagers were seized on Wednesday (14) during the second phase of Operation Segura Adolescence, held by the Child and Adolescent Victim (DCAV) Police Station. The action aims cyber crimes committed against children and adolescents.
The warrants are served in Rio de Janeiro, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, Paraná, Santa Catarina and São Paulo, with the support of the civil police of these states and the Ministry of Justice and Public Security.
According to the Rio Civil Police, the targets of the operation are members of a network responsible for several crimes committed over the internet, such as attempted murder, induction and instigation to suicide, storage and dissemination of child pornography and nazism apology.
The investigation began in February this year, when DCAV agents located those responsible for an attack on a homeless man. The suspects would use Molotov cocktails and broadcast live crime over the internet. From this case, the researchers found that the barbaric crime was not an isolated case.
The group organized itself virtually and carried out challenges and competitions, always related to hate crimes. According to information, the organization used mechanisms of psychological manipulation and enticing to victims of school age, in a scenario of extreme risk to the physical and mental integrity of children and adolescents.
The heads of the criminal organization cohage victims to commit self -mutilation or violent acts. In some cases, there were invasions on electronic devices and data theft and images used to threaten victims.
According to the agents, the group members, even using encrypted platforms, closed and opened servers to try to mislead the Civil Police. From the expertise held in materials seized in the first phase, monitoring and data crossing, it was possible to trigger this Wednesday’s action.
The Rio Civil Police stated that the action represents a significant milestone in the fight against digital crime in Brazil and reaffirmed the commitment to the protection of fundamental rights of childhood and youth, as provided for in the Child and Adolescent Statute (ECA).
