The great fans of the Mont Blanc remember i well wild cherry trees that once colored the hill that is now to the left of the station Skyway, the futuristic cable car that in just 15 minutes allows you to reach 3466 meters at the closest point to the summit traveling in cabins that rotate 360 ° throughout the climb, offering a unique view of the Giant of Europe and on the surrounding peaks such as the Matterhorn, Monte Rosa and Gran Paradiso. Now we can be the ones to give that hill the wonderful colors and scents of the past, agiving a cherry tree, right together with Skyway Monte Bianco.

With CVA Energie and RAV (Valdostano Motorway Link) Skyway has in fact just launched a new plan to repopulate it, which is part of #savetheglacier: a far-reaching sustainability project to undertake concrete actions in respect of the Alpine community.

Planting new cherry trees will not only serve to make us enjoy again the spectacle of the flowering trees in the presence of the snowy peaks, but also to give back – literally – oxygen to the area thus mitigating the disastrous effect of climate warming on glaciers. For this reason, once planted, a study will also be launched to calculate the positive impact of each plant, namely how much carbon dioxide it can absorb.

To adopt a cherry tree just go to montebianco.skiperformance.com: at your e-mail address (or that of the person you are giving it to) you will receive an adoption certificate in which you can also insert a dedication. In the gallery above some images
