El rCanada’s ADP employment report reported an increase in jobs of 39,400 from July to August. The July data was revised from a positive reading of 221,3000 to a negative of 21,600.
Nela Richardson, ADP chief economist said that despite job growth in August, performance across sectors was mixed. Commerce, transportation and utilities saw jobs rise and construction and professional services declined.
In the last hour other economic reports were known. On Canada there was the one for wholesale sales and in the US the one for retail sales, unemployment benefits and the Philly Fed. Canadian dollar declined against a stronger US dollar, but at the same time it was up against the AUD and CAD. USD / CAD rose approaching the highs for the day, but was still below 1.2650.
