ADP reports employment drop of 100,800 in February, worst month since May

The employment report of Canada prepared by ADP showed a drop of 100,800 jobs in February. The January number was revised from -231,000 to -65,800. In this way, the February figures are being the worst since May of last year, a month in which more than a million jobs were lost according to ADP.

“The drop in jobs was led by the leisure and hospitality, commerce and construction sectors, while the manufacturing and financial sectors showed small increases,” said Nel Richardson, chief economist at ADP.

The data had no impact on the loonie. Report figures remain highly volatile month-over-month, including revisions.
