Adult Swim is a block on Cartoon Network, operating from 11:00 pm to 6:00 am PT/ET, featuring cartoons and live-action shows for adults. Some anime series are also shown on Saturdays.
“Adult Swim” (literally “swimming for adults”) means the time set in a public pool during which it is forbidden to swim for persons under 18 years, and it goes to the full disposal of adults. The name hints that the content of the block is not intended for children.
In Russia, the block is represented by a 2×2 TV channel, both with a night broadcasting grid at 00:05, and with a general design.
Programs:
The broadcasting schedule is divided into two parts: from 22:00 to 02:00 standard programs are shown, from 02:00 to 06:00 (the end of the broadcast) there is a repetition of what has already been shown earlier. Premiere episodes are usually shown on Sunday, anime series are shown on Saturdays.
The main part of the grid is made up of its own series, however, some programs were purchased from FOX (American Dad, Family Guy), and when shown on [adult swim] episodes come with less censorship than on FOX. In 2003 on [adult swim] Family Guy season 3 episode 22 When You Wish Upon a Weinstein aired, banned from FOX.
Some series bought from Warner Brothers and subsequently canceled have been renewed by order [adult swim] (Children’s Hospital, announced the resumption of Oblong production).
Unlike other television networks, [adult swim] always leaves open the “door” for the authors of closed series. One of the most popular cartoons [adult swim] – “Space Ghost”, more than once left the ether, but returned again.
