Google has introduced a number of important updates to its proprietary Workspace platform, which includes services for productive collaboration. One of the main announcements was a new interesting function of video calls – by the end of this year, Meet will have a translation of foreign speech in real time.
Google Meet currently supports speech-to-text transcription in five languages (English, French, German, Portuguese, Spanish). At the same time, users will be able to instantly translate subtitles, immediately reading them in a familiar language. In the future, the number of supported languages is promised to increase.
Also, in the fall of 2021, Meet calls will be integrated into the online services Google Docs, Google Sheets and Google Slides. Teams will be able to co-edit documents, spreadsheets and presentations with the ability to discuss edits and details directly with each other during a video conference – right in the browser.
